Tonight is hockey night.
Vancouver is a hockey town, and, as a newcomer I’m looking in with a mix of wonder, admiration and maybe a touch of amusement at the sight of local buses displaying Go Canucks Go across the number/destination matrix. I’ve just not come across this before and I guess this stems from living a lot of my life within striking distance of London. You wouldn’t see a line of red buses sporting ‘Come on you Reds’ or similar for fear of aggravating the whites, blues and clarets. In Vancouver it’s not an issue as there is no other NHL team in the Province.
So, Go Canucks Go it is for now – but I’ll still be up on Sat morning watching the Charlton updates on the beeb website.
